According to official figures, Christians in Iran only represent 1% of the population of 78 million people. But the growing house church movement could well add another 1 million people by some reckonings. Though vibrant in their new faith, these brothers and sisters are suffering severely, with many ending up in prison. They lack Bibles and training materials.
This is why the satellite broadcasts of Christian TV station SAT-7 PARS are proving so vital for the growing Iranian Church. Viewer response to SAT-7 PARS more than doubled last year to over 18,000 responses! This occurred despite the Iranian government blocking their website, and the severe harassment of viewers.
Overall, SAT-7 PARS reached more than 2 million people in Iran in 2011, and these numbers exclude children under the age of 15 who would add another 1 to 2 million to the figures. “Each one represents a person loved by God, whom we hope to engage with prayer and discipleship,” comments the editor of SAT-7 Uplink. And the existence of Christian programming on TV is a lifeline for the isolated Christians of Iran.

PRAISE: God that this lifeline is available to the Church, and available so that many in Iran can hear God speaking to them so that they find Jesus.
