For months it seemed likely that one of the major distributors/retailers of Christian books, music and resources in the UK would fall foul of the recession.
Keith Danby, IBS-STL Chief Executive said, “I am delighted with the developments. I could not have imagined five weeks ago such a positive outcome. All along we have had three goals in mind: the continuity of the distribution of Christian resources, safeguarding jobs, and finding purchasers who would invest in the businesses and take them to a new level.”
Authentic Media has been bought out by the Eastbourne-based media group Kingsway, while Australian Christian company Koorong has taken over Authentic Book Publishing and eight Wesley Owen branches. Scottish book distributor John Ritchie Ltd, a subsidiary of The Lord’s Work Trust, has purchased STL Distribution and its Carlisle properties. A further six Wesley Owen stores are being acquired by Christian Literature Crusade, while discussions are ongoing to save the remaining 26 branches through local groups.

Praise: God for this outcome. Pray that the new owners will have God’s vision for the future.

Patrick Woodward talks to Jon Hargreaves, the International Director of FEBA Radio (pictured) about the latest news from a Christian perspective. Today, what challenges face Barack Obama as he prepares for the Presidency, how there is hope for the Democratic Republic of Congo as the international community steps up its role, and why a small remote Asian state has got better ideas than the rest of the world, when it comes to thinking about the economy.

Weekly News Review from a Christian Viewpoint.

Patrick Woodward talks with Jon Hargreaves, International Director of Feba Radio, about the latest news from a Christian perspective. Today, the latest rise in energy prices adds to the woes of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and could lead to his fall. The Sikh schoolgirl’s court victory over her right to wear a religious bangle prompts questions over what people really believe, and the contrast with helping orphans in India makes the Church of England’s debate on gay bishops seem irrelevant to the world.
