Jesus is Most Influential in Australia | 19th Jan 2010

Bible Society NSW has announced that its “Jesus. All about life” campaign will now cover all of New South Wales, the oldest and most populous Australian state, reports Dan Wooding, founder of ASSIST Ministries. “Jesus. All about life” is a non-denominational, advertising-based, mass-media campaign which aims to increase the general public’s awareness of the person of Jesus, and what he said “about life.” A spokesperson for the campaign told ANS, “This media campaign is supported by local churches, who will run community, cultural, and arts events that connect with the message of the campaign.
“Jesus. All about life” has already run successfully in Adelaide, Canberra and Tasmania. “I have seen how country churches sometimes struggle to make an impact in their community. Being a part of the “Jesus. All about life” campaign, means they will join with hundreds of other churches and thousands of Christians as together we present the person of Jesus and what He said into our society,” said Bible Society NSW CEO, Daniel Willis.
Recent research commissioned by All About Life – polling both believers and un-believers – found that 54% of Australians ranked Jesus as the number one most influential person in history, beating Albert Einstein who came in at second place (16%) and Charles Darwin who was ranked third (9%). Other statistics reveal that 2 in 5 Australians say they practice their religion and only 27% do not believe in God or a universal power of any sort.
